Tired of Effort as a Lifestyle?

There’s a question I’ve been sitting with lately.

What if wealth - all the good you want to experience in life - doesn’t respond to effort…but to openness?

We’re so conditioned to believe that if we just try harder, push more, stay on top of things, then life will finally open up and deliver for us.

And yes - doing does have its place.

But it’s not what you do that life responds to.
Life doesn’t respond to doing.
It responds to the spirit we’re bringing - who we are being as we do.

And that spirit is usually one of three things:
openness, trust, or allowance…
 - or the absence of them.

Let’s start with openness.

Openness isn’t about having all the answers.
It’s not blind optimism or pretending everything’s fine.

Openness is our willingness to admit,
“I don’t know how this will unfold… but I’m open to it unfolding.”

It’s a letting go of the need to know how.
A softening of our grip.
We stop trying to micromanage how things have to work out.

Trust is the next layer.

Trust doesn’t mean you never have thoughts of doubt.
It just means you don’t let doubt be the decision-maker.

Trust sounds like:
“I can take the next step, even if I can’t see the whole staircase yet.”

It’s a quiet confidence that everything is working out for your greatest good - even when it’s stretching you.

And then there’s allowance.

Allowance is often the hardest one for people who are capable, responsible, and used to making things happen.

Allowance says,
“I don’t have to earn every good thing through effort and hustle.”

It’s recognising there is unseen support.
It’s letting in ease and flow.
It’s allowing life to surprise you - and being okay with that.

Here’s the thing:

When we’re trying, striving, and over-controlling, life tends to feel heavy and resistant. No joy.

But when we soften - even just a little -
when we open, trust, and allow a little more than we did yesterday…
things begin to shift.

Not always dramatically.
Not always immediately.

But unmistakably.

So maybe the question isn’t,
“Am I doing enough?”

Maybe it’s,
“Am I open enough to receive what’s already here for me?”

Just something to sit with.

With love,
Di ✨

If not now... when?
Today feels like a bold letter from me to you. In recent weeks, I’ve had a few friends pass away. And along with the sadness… there’s always a stark reminder: Am I really giving life all I have? There is no rehearsal — this is it.And we don’t know when our curtain will fall. ♡ I see it so often…clever, creative, capable people. Full of ideas. And yet… it’s like they’re moving forward with the ha...
There's Power in Creating Space
When was the last time you really stopped … and created space for yourself? I don’t mean a pause for a cuppa…or just taking a day off (to catch up on chores). When - if ever - have you truly stepped back from everything - the noise, the doing, the constant holding of it all? To just pause, reflect and reconnect with what’s important for you. Almost 10 years ago now, I did exactly that. ♡ I was ...
Intuition Speaks Quietly - But Never Randomly
Intuition Speaks Quietly - But Never Randomly I was talking with a friend recently about the little hunches we get - those quiet inner nudges that seem small at the time but make so much sense when we look back. It reminded me of something that happened many years ago. I was about seven or eight months pregnant, rushing out the front door one morning and as I went to pull the door closed, I bec...
