That 'Thing' You Don't Realise You're Practicing
Often, in the busyness of life, it's easy to drift away from ourselves.
I write these letters as a gentle invitation to pause for a while, reconnect with what you know to be true, and live a little more unapologetically you.

A conversation I had this week sounded so familiar.
Two people, a scenario rolling out, and in amongst it all, one person said to themself
ââŚthey donât believe in meâŚâ
And from that moment on, everything else was run through that lens in their mind.
They forgot what they wanted, what they felt to be true for them, and their energy dropped to the level of their belief âŚ
ââŚthey donât believe in me.â
It reminded me of a day - one I remember well - because that was the day I decided, "NO MORE!".
I had experienced a similar scenario⌠a situation going on, and my thoughts went to
â⌠they donât think I canâŚâ
and that thought coloured every thought thereafter.
I nursed the mood - or should I say the mood nursed me - and I was at the sink in the kitchen when I stopped.
âI donât want to live like this anymore!â
Some of you know the story⌠I determined to interrupt the mood by repeating out loud
âJoy, joy, joyâŚâ
initially through gritted teeth with an attitude to match.
I kept saying the word - knowing words are energy - and finally I felt the tone of the word âjoyâ.
I made a committed decision there and then to never return to that old practiced pattern of belief.
Ever.

We talked about belief in our community call this week, and we kept coming back to one simple idea...
Belief isnât something we either have or donât have - itâs something we quietly build.
In sharing at the end of our meeting, one of our members said they had held back on acting on an idea for years - believing they couldnât move forward, because they believed they didnât know how.
Belief is so convincing!
They realised just because something is new and challenging, doesnât mean they canât do it. It all depends on what they believe.
The Idea
We create according to belief - not desire.
Consciously we might desire financial freedom, or better health, or a wonderful relationship.
While unconsciously we may be believing that money is difficult to get, or old age means failing health, or relationships always disappoint.
Guess which one wins?
The belief.
Not because the desire is weak, but because what we believe is what weâve accepted as true for us.
Belief is never neutral - weâre always believing in something.
And that belief directs our creative power.
Reflection
A good way to notice what we are believing is to ask ourselves
âWhat am I emotionally rehearsing every day?â
I used to think that worrying was preparing myself.
I now understand that worry isnât preparing, itâs practicing. Rehearsing.
And whatever I focus my attention on, grows stronger.
If I rehearse lack, Iâm strengthening my belief in lack.
If I rehearse conflict, Iâm strengthening my belief in conflict.
ANDâŚwhen I rehearse joy, Iâm strengthening my belief in joy.
