Will you allow it?

Can you remember being so excited as a child that you could barely sit still?

That feeling of anticipation — it coloured everything around you, and you felt the lift inside you.

As adults, it happens too… though perhaps, like me, you experience it a little differently now.

This week, I had a restlessness I initially found quite annoying.

I couldn’t seem to focus… but I didn’t feel like resting either.

Then the awareness landed.

♡

I was sitting in a medical room waiting on test results for someone I love immensely.

I looked out the window.
‘What a beautiful, clear blue sky.’

I noticed the date.
‘My dear friend has a birthday today.’

And this weekend I’m holding The Beautiful Retreat.

It struck me how many layers we hold at once as human beings.

The people we love.
The celebrations.
The tenderness and uncertainty of life.

And underneath all of that, there is often something quieter still…
a deeper current…
an awareness quietly humming away…
a quiet call forward.

Life doesn’t pause its complexity while purpose unfolds.
They move together.

Not louder than life.
Part of life.

The retreat was the first real “creation” of my own, just one year into this work… and the way it came into being still amazes me.

I’d woken in the early hours and seen a post my daughter had put up on our page:

Be.
Be You.
Be You To The Full.
Beautiful.

I can’t describe the feeling in that moment, but if I were to give it voice, it would sound something like:

“Omgoodness… yes… but… I’m not ready…”

And I deleted the post.

I called my daughter — who was in a different time zone — and told her, “There’s something very powerful about what you wrote.”

We spoke for a while and all I knew was that we had to do something with it.

We agreed to end the call and come back later with any thoughts.

I showered, my mind buzzing.

Then it just flowed in — like a cool change after a frantic day.

A retreat.

I called my daughter and started to say, “I’ve got it… we’re doing—”

…and she finished my sentence.

That was 2017.

And so it began.

We didn’t have a website or branding… just an idea that felt bigger than both of us.

My first few retreats actually cost me money to run, but I’ll never forget the feeling on the morning of that first Beautiful Retreat.

I was running home from the gym through the parklands, and I honestly felt like dancing and skipping all the way home.

I’d never felt less prepared — and yet more fulfilled.

♡

Now, 10 years on, I’m still aware…

I didn’t create these.

I’m simply allowing their expression — with and through me.

It’s a strange feeling at times… like watching the cursor move during a remote session on your laptop. You can see it moving, but you’re not the one moving it.

This Life in us is so powerful.

And despite the enormous array of things we can be aware of at any one time… there’s something incredibly freeing about allowing ourselves to get into the spirit of what lights us up.

To allow it.

To let it move us and express itself through us.

♡

Magical things happen on The Beautiful Retreat. I’m so grateful I allowed it.

And so today I just want to encourage you,

…get curious. Understand there is never a ‘good time’ to start.

Life doesn’t clear a perfect path before you walk your purpose.

Allow yourself to feel what lights you up, in amongst what you’re already living.

Let it move you.
Let it carry you.
Let it express itself through you.

Can you imagine what might happen if you do?

Until next time, beautiful people,

Be you…to the full.

When life says no
Life really does happen to reveal us to ourselves. Today I had plans of driving down the coast to see a friend, and then sitting amongst nature and writing an inspired letter to you all. It’s perfect weather…cool, overcast, rain…we’re in the last month of Autumn. I love driving the hills route with loads of trees, winding narrow roads and the peacefulness away from the city. I was really lookin...
Be You. To the Full
Have you ever experienced the raw joy expressed by a child —the kind that simply steals your heart? I find myself so drawn to it. Captivated by it. I experienced it again this week with one of my grandchildren. They had an idea… and shared it with such enthusiasm. "Do you like to drive a red car, Meemah?" Of course I replied, “Yes — absolutely — a red car sounds great!” Looking so pleased with...
If not now... when?
Today feels like a bold letter from me to you. In recent weeks, I’ve had a few friends pass away. And along with the sadness… there’s always a stark reminder: Am I really giving life all I have? There is no rehearsal — this is it.And we don’t know when our curtain will fall. ♡ I see it so often…clever, creative, capable people. Full of ideas. And yet… it’s like they’re moving forward with the ha...
